COMMUNITY ARCHIVES

Too often, the lives of ordinary Black families, elders, workers, growers, and caretakers go undocumented, even though they carry deep knowledge about how we survived, cared for one another, and remained rooted to the land. This archive exists to help protect those memories before they are lost.

We invite community members to contribute family photographs, oral histories, letters, recordings, recipes, land stories, and memories big or small. Because our stories matter.

The Community Archives Are a living space for the everyday histories that have shaped wadmalaw island and the people connected to it.
